About the Master Stylist
Maria has over 20 years experience in hair and beauty both as an educator and stylist in the
salon. She had advance training at the Aveda Institute in St. Paul,
Minnesota, Chicago and Milwaukee and at Education Centers with Paul
Mitchell, L'anza, Wahl, Matrix and OPI to mention a few. She started her
career winning first place in a Men’s Hair Cutting Competition in
Minneapolis, Minnesota. While working at a previous salon she continued
to work with Aveda and educate the staff ensuring that all their new
staff members were trained to meet the same high expectations. She has
attended the hair show in Las Vegas, the Midwest Beauty Show in Chicago
and the Presage Technology Class. She became certified in the Presage
treatment in June of 2007. She has completed the second level of
training with the Presage Company. In 2011, she trained with the L’anza
color team to learn the latest in color dimension.
received a great invitation to work with the Style. Network in 2009.
Style was doing a promotional tour across the US. Style. Network is the
home of the TV shows, Clean House, How do I Look? Split Ends and Kimora:
Life in the Fab Lane to name a few. To
promote the Style network, the "Style" staff did complimentary
hairstyles, polish changes and make up applications on patrons from
Appleton to Milwaukee. Afterward the mobile salon was heading East. The
mobile salon was a RV remodeled to service six clients at a time. It was
an experience she will not forget soon!
Maria is an artist when it comes to nail enhancements. She has the
ability to make any nail look the way you desire; short, long, squoval,
square, oval, round and always natural looking. Maria is passionate
about hair color and you can count on her to create a custom color to
fit your look! Maria is most concerned with developing a
complete understanding of her clients needs so that she can match their
style to their personality, coloring and lifestyle.
Maria's nurturing nature explains the latest addition to their service
menu. The salon now carries It Works products that help a client's
overall wellness and enhance their outer beauty. When you feel good
inside, you look great on the outside.
Hairport Salon started on the second floor of Independent Beauty, June
of 2000. July of 2001 we moved to our current location at 600 G Ohio
Street. Many still remember it as Beaner's Bar from the "good ole days".
Maria started the Hairport Salon with the intentions to create a
relaxing experience that the client would feel the minute they walked
through the door.
Over the years we have donated our time at
the Back to School Fair, Bridal Shows, Zoolloween Boo, the Family
Wellness Fair, Senior Day at the YMCA and many contributions to
have been volunteering at the Zoollooween Boo held at the Menominee
Park in Oshkosh since 2003. Over past years we did the 80s, Grandmas in
rollers (we even made the Oshkosh Northwestern that year), Three Blind
Mice and Scary sea creatures, a medieval family; I had
a lot of kids asking if I was really a man. The year of the sea
creatures we scared a few too many kids so we won't do scary again. In
2009, we did the Cat and the Hat and in 2010 my daughter and her friends
were Little Red
Riding Hood, the Big Bad Wolf and Granny. I have to say we had the best
reviews from parents and children with the Cat in the Hat, so we might
have to do that one again. 2011 and 2012 we did a witches theme with a
big pot of candy and all the ingredients we used to make the candy
displayed. Some of those ingredients were hair of a naughty child, dog’s
breath, bloody eyeballs, kidney stones, shrunken skulls and spiders.
2013 we changed things up a bit and did a winter wonderland theme. That
was wonderful because it was cold and rainy and I got to dress warm. For 2014 my daughter helped me out and we were the Big Bad Wolf/Granny and Little Red Riding Hood. I'm
always looking for ideas, so feel free to make suggestions for next
We have participated in many events like Pink hair extensions for
Breast Cancer awareness for the month of October and Purple hair
extensions for Teen Dating Violence Prevention and Awareness for the
month of February. The Boys and Girls club put on a Tea Party for the girls 6 to teenage , which was fun helping transform them from pretty girls to princesses. Lukie's Legacy is a cause that's close to my heart and I always look forward to helping at that event. Last year we sprayed fun colors in the kids hair. The "kids" came in all ages!

When I first started going to Maria
almost 6 years ago, my hair was a nightmare. I think it took her almost an hour
to comb it out the first time, but Maria always treated with respect. Now my
hair is much heathier and I wouldn't go to anyone else. She's great with color,
cuts, nails...everything! Just a couple weeks ago she cut my "picky"
8-year old son's hair and he was thrilled - She's awesome! The salon has a
perfect balance of classy and comfortable.

I have gone to Maria for a very long
time. Whether it's a haircut, color or style or getting my nails done or
anything else that is provided by Hairport Salon, I have always been very
satisfied and happy with the results. She not only is a great hairdresser, nail
technician, pedicurist but a good friend who takes care of me and pampers me
whenever I am there.
From Facebook on the Hairport Salon page
Hairport is an
amazing salon, they really know how to pamper you. I have had several
haircut/color/styles that i am very happy with. And having a facial done is the
best treat you can give yourself!
Thank you again for my wonderful haircut yesterday Maria! I am so glad I
found your salon when I moved up here - it's so hard to find someone who can
cut my hair just the way I like it, and you ALWAYS do! If I ever move I want
you to know that you have to come with me!

Whenever I visit my mom in WI, I always go to the Hairport salon to get
my hair cut and styled. Because of my hubby's job, we move around a lot, and a
good stylist is hard to find. When I go to see Maria, I know I'm going to have
exactly the haircut I hope for! I wish I could visit more often. Maria, you
always do an awesome job. Thank you
